Whether you’re looking for romance, relaxation, thrills or the beauty of nature, you are sure to find it in Florida. Winter, spring, summer or fall, a wonderous vacation awaits you within the Florida peninsula. Here are just a few of the fun things to do in Florida.
Disney World
If you and your family have never experienced Disney World then you are really missing out. You should definitely put this experience on your bucket list. Disney Worlds sits on 25,000 acres in central Florida and it offers 4 theme parks, 24 hotels, 2 water parks, health spas and 5 golf courses. Downtown Disney is a great destination to get your shopping on. Once you arrive on Disney property you never really have a need to leave. You can spend a week keeping busy with all of the things to do. You will not run out of fund things to do. If you are seeking thrills there are several roller coaster rides and fun rides in the water parks. If your idea of a vacation is relaxing you can do that very easily. Just sit poolside at one of the resorts with your favorite book and beverage.
Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens is an African themed park located in Tampa, Florida. Over 2,700 animals are featured here, making it one of America’s largest zoological institutions. There are plenty of heart-pumping roller coasters too, with names like Montu, Kumba, Scorpion, Gwazi and Sheikra. These coasters twist, turn, flip and drop riders through the thrills of the “dark continent.” Visitors who don’t mind getting a little wet can dare to experience the Congo River Rapids, Tanganyika and Stanley Falls water rides. A visit to Busch Gardens will most certainly leave you invigorated.
Universal Studios Orlando
If you make it to Orlando do yourself a favor and visit Universal Studios Orlando. There are two theme parks to enjoy – Universal Studios Florida and the Islands of Adventure. Both of them are filled with fun rides. If you need to get your heart pounding head over to Islands of Adventure and ride on the Hulk, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Dueling Dragons and the new Harry Potter. You can walk easily to the other park and enjoy rides such as Revenge of the Mummy, Jaws, Men in Black, Shrek and Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket.
Play on Siesta Key Beach
If theme parks are not your cup of tea then make your way to Siesta Key beach. This fun and relaxing 8 mile long barrier island is located off the coast of Sarasota and on the west coast of Florida. People from all over the world visit Siesta Key to play in the sand, swim in the Gulf of Mexico and lounge around catching rays. Be sure to visit Siesta Key Village where you can enjoy a meal and/or drinks with your family or friends. You can stay as busy as you want on Siesta Key or if you prefer do absolutely nothing. That is the beauty of a vacation here. You won’t feel the pressure of having to do anything. It is a wonderful place to spend a week and just unwind.
Ichetucknee Springs State Park
You many need to cool off from all of the theme park activities. If so, take a drive north to the Ichetucknee Springs State Park. This is a 6 mile long river where the water is clear and a refreshing 72 degrees. It is fun and relaxing to jump in the river in a tube and float under the hammock trees. On a hot summer day it is very refreshing to float down the river and enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
Everglades National Park
In the southern part of Florida you will find a 1.5 million acre park which happens to be the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The Everglades are home to roughly 350 species of bird, 40 species of mammals and 50 species of reptiles. If you want to be one with nature you can cruise through the Everglades on foot, car, canoe, bike, kayak or airboat.
